The influence the wider environment can have on our health has been studied for multiple decades now. Well-designed urban spaces have a tremendous impact on both our mental, and physical health. I believe that by reflecting on, and being more aware of our physical surroundings, we can gain exceptional insights into our thoughts, values, and emotions.

I often have a slightly uncomfortable feeling when talking about ‘reflectiveness’, as I feel a sting of dishonesty every time I share related thoughts — they sound predictable, overused, and fabricated narratives. I find art, and photography in particular a wonderful tool to avoid this misconstruction. They enable us to see more, and see better. And if they don’t — well, it can also be something to reflect on.

As the famous photographer and photojournalist Robert Capa said: “if your pictures aren’t good enough, you aren’t close enough.”
